giant sandstorm, natural disaster, national geographic, great migrations

I’ve seen some pretty wild films of sandstorms roaring across the desert, but this one eclipses them all in terms of sheer awe.

In this behind-the-scenes video for National Geographic’s upcoming HD mini-series Great Migrations, we watch as cameraman Bob Poole becomes engulfed in a massive sand storm while attempting to track elephants in Mali on foot. It’s pretty amazing to see this “end of the world” type storm roar towards the camera and turn day to night in an instant. Check it out below:
