Comedian and animal advocate Ricky Gervais is backing a new campaign by BUAV (British Union for the Abolition of Vivisection) called “Stop The Baby Trade”; which calls for an end to the cruel international trade in monkeys for research.

Gervais, who studied first-hand evidence of the brutality and cruelty inflicted on monkeys during their capture, confinement, caging, transportation and eventual death in the laboratory, said he was shocked by the revelations. “Imprisoning monkeys and snatching their babies is a disgusting way to treat other primates”, said Ricky. “Monkeys are highly intelligent beings who feel pain and distress, just like us.”

“Please support the BUAV to end this shameful cruelty,” he added. “We must Stop The Baby Trade.”
