Poaching animals is never cool. Never! And eBlockwatch — a charity that helps communities in Southern Africa fight crime, including poaching — wants 50 Cent to help get the message out.

According to the organization, 227 protected animals have already been slaughtered by poachers this year, and they believe 50 Cent’s involvement would help raise awareness and help stop the brutal slaughter.

“We want to ask him if he wants to become the godfather of our rhino so that he can create awareness worldwide about rhino poaching,” eBlockwatch’s Andre Snyman told South Africa’s Sunday Times.

Phila — the rhino eBlockwatch hopes 50 will rescue — has already survived two poaching attempts since July. Ultimate frowny face.

No word yet from the rapper’s camp, but we sure hope he at least considers it.

Jenna, use your star power to remind people that animals cannot be commodified, but make sure that’s the position you believe whole-heartedly first.
