The nine year old in me will always get excited when I hear the name “Punky Brewster.” I just can’t help it!

Soleil Moon Frye (AKA Punky Brewster) is back in the news as one of the stars of Nickelodeon’s new animated series, Planet Sheen, which launched earlier this month and airs each Saturday.

Although the show itself doesn’t carry an eco message, it does give Frye a platform to discuss one of her favorite subjects: environmentalism.

Ecorazzi previously reported that the green-loving mom is the founder Little Seed — an eco-friendly children’s boutique that features organic clothing and sustainable toys. Frye’s also created an online social network for new moms.

“When I became a mom, I had so many questions about what to put on my baby and what to let her play with. I felt like I missed the parenting handbook that everyone else got,” she said.

“I’ve always had a passion for our planet, so I think it’s important to protect it. I’ll be working on environmental causes for a long time to come.”

We love that story! Check out Nick.com to learn more about Planet Sheen!
