Sick of watching reality shows that hunker down in celebrity homes and go nowhere else? ABC and Mark Burnett (“Survivor”) agree – they’ve teamed up for “Expedition Impossible,” a worldwide adventure reality show slated to air this summer.

“I love high adventure television, and I am so excited to be working with ABC in bringing an epic ‘Indiana Jones’-style experience to the viewers,” Burnett said.

Although some have already noted that “Expedition” sounds a wee bit like CBS’ “The Amazing Race,” Burnett would be quick to say that the new show is more like his own “Eco Challenge.” Could that mean we’ll see some carbon-friendly ways of globetrotting? Challenges where contestants eat unusual plant-based foods instead of animal organs? We can only hope (or send our suggestions on to Burnett and the ABC crew)…

In any case, we’re glad to see reality show contestants get off their duffs and be active!
