On November 10th, actress Ali Larter teamed up with COOKS brand of Kitchenware to host a high-energy fundraiser at Stella McCartney’s Hollywood store (we love Stella!) for Project Peanut Butter — a nonprofit organization that treats severely malnourished children all over the world.

Celebrity guests Julie Bowen, Amy Smart, Beth Riesgraf, Nicole Sullivan, and Anna Getty were onsite to show their support and customize ceramic COOKS mixing bowls which will be auctioned off later in the year to benefit Project Peanut Butter.

The event was organized by green style guru Danny Seo who works with JCPenney (where COOKS products are exclusively available).

“We’re proud to donate $10,000 to the cause and hope to raise tons more money through the auction,” said Danny on his blog.

Besides making a generous donation to the charity, we are excited to hear that COOKS is rocking tons of eco-friendly and energy-efficient products! In fact, rumor on the street is that Ali Larter scored some of their bamboo cutting boards and Nicole Sullivan picked up an energy-efficient induction portable cooktop. Nice!

Stop calling vegan food “cruelty-free”

Many vegans proudly proclaim that their food is “cruelty-free” as though issues of justice and injustice begin and end with our use of nonhuman animals.

If you’re a vegan who has had to deal with this, and especially if you come from a background of being abused in other ways, you are absolutely not alone
