Leonardo DiCaprio and Vladimir Putin, together at last.

The unlikely pair met as the actor (finally) attended the last few days of a tiger conservation summit in St. Petersburg. According to Putin himself, Leo’s plane woes did not end after the Delta Boeing 767 he initially took on Sunday experienced engine failure. After attempting to book another commercial flight, he eventually settled on a private jet — but that plane experienced issues as well due to strong winds and was forced to land in Finland for refueling.

In a benefit concert at Mikhailovsky theatre, Russian Prime Minister Putin said: “Not everyone would be willing to take a plane again after what Mr DiCaprio experienced, but he did. Here in Russia we call such a person a ‘real man’.

“If wildlife and tiger conservation is in the hands of people with such character, we are destined to succeed.”
