Environmental champion/ legendary musician Willie Nelson is getting down with the green. And not the kind of green you’re probably thinking about.

Nelson was arrested on Friday in Sierra Blanca, Texas for being in possession of six ounces of marijuana. While Nelson has faced legal trouble over drugs before — possession of marijuana and hallucinogenic mushrooms in 2006 and possession of marijuana in 1997 — this time it could be really serious.

Experts are predicting that Nelson could face up two years in prison for his crime. One former prosecutor says:

“If the Texas prosecutors do not reduce the charges, and the marijuana’s weight is indeed six ounces, then he is dealing with felony and a potential minimum of 180 days in a county jail and a maximum of two years, with a $10,000 fine. Texas is more stringent than California so he could face time. One of the issues that the court and prosecutors will look at is his prior record and given the fact that he has several arrests, even recent ones, for pot related crimes. I would not be surprised if Texas decided to stick it to him.”

But seriously? SERIOUSLY!!!??

In a day and age where marijuana is basically legal in many states, it would be insanity to throw the old hippie into jail. It’s frigin’ Willie Nelson!

What do you think? Should Nelson face time in the slammer for his latest “green campaign” or is this total rubbish? Chime in and share your thoughts!

Stop calling vegan food “cruelty-free”

Many vegans proudly proclaim that their food is “cruelty-free” as though issues of justice and injustice begin and end with our use of nonhuman animals.

My Parents Forced Veganism on Me

If vegan parents don’t “force” their vegan values and beliefs on their children, society won’t hesitate to “force” standard American values instead.
