Ok, so there are some celebrities participating in Alicia Keys’ “Digital Death” campaign that you could probably care less if they ever tweet again or not (ie; Kim Kardashian) — but it’s a great cause and we applaud their participation. One day in, the celebrity collective has already raised $160,000 towards their goal of $1 million.

Ellen DeGeneres has decided to throw her Twitter account in with the lot; and with 5.5 million followers, the move could help speed up donations significantly. The 52-year-old sent out her last tweet yesterday saying, “I’m logging off Twitter to raise money for Keep a Child Alive. Pledge here to bring me back to life! http://keepachildalive.org

Unfortunately, it appears that the BuyLife.org website does not have her as a main participator — so there’s no way to donate on behalf of Degeneres. But don’t let that stop you! Hit the official site here or Text “BUYLIFE” to 90999 to donate $10 to the cause.
