Got any plans for New Years Eve? Well, if you find yourself in New York or Las Vegas, two of the biggest party destinations in the country, you’ll be afforded the chance of a free and safe ride home courtesy of P Diddy!

Yes, the man, the myth, the Puff Daddy himself will be distributing pre-paid taxi cards with values of up to $25 to encourage responsible decision making this year. This is the third year and counting for the Safe Rides initiative, which aims to keep designated drivers and their passengers safe by getting drunk drivers off of the roads. Debit cards will be distributed beginning December 2 at high traffic locations in three New York City boroughs and at various Las Vegas locations. They can be used in taxis, participating car services, and subway ticketing booths through January 1, 2011, making this a great and responsible way to get home.

The media mogul partnered with the New York City Department of Transportation (NYC DOT) on the initiative, and it seems fitting that he lead the way in safe drinking, as he is the owner of CÎROC Vodka, a brand likely to be present when ringing in the New Year.

This is a really great idea and we’re happy to know that the streets will be safer this New Years. Here’s hoping the initiative comes my way (Los Angeles!) next year.

Stop calling vegan food “cruelty-free”

Many vegans proudly proclaim that their food is “cruelty-free” as though issues of justice and injustice begin and end with our use of nonhuman animals.

Verbally abusing your vegan friends isn’t edgy, it’s just being a bully

If you’re a vegan who has had to deal with this, and especially if you come from a background of being abused in other ways, you are absolutely not alone
