Adam Yauch, better known as MCA of the Beastie Boys, is now body movin’ cancer free — thanks in part to the healing powers of vegan foods.

In July 2009, Yauch stepped away from recording to fight a cancerous tumor on his parotid (salivary) gland. His recovery included an organic, vegan diet and Tibetan medicine.

Now that Yauch has been given an “all clear” by his medical team, he is rockin’ his skills to pay the bills! The Boys will most likely all appear at the Sundance Film Festival this month to premiere “Fight For Your Right Revisited,” a short film with Elijah Wood, Seth Rogen, and Jack Black, among other A-list celebs. The film is a spinoff of the Beasties’ 1986 video “(You Gotta) Fight For Your Right (To Party!).” Yauch is also slated to finish up the Beastie Boys’ upcoming release Hot Sauce Committee, Part 2, due this Spring. (Part 1 has yet to be released.)

Congrats on your recovery, Adam!

[Update: Yauch has gone on the Beastie Boys’ Website to share the following about his health status: “While I’m grateful for all the positive energy people are sending my way, reports of my being totally cancer free are exaggerated. I’m continuing treatment, staying optimistic and hoping to be cancer free in the near future.” We look forward to posting again once MCA has licked his cancer for good.]

Shame it didn’t work for long…

Veld donates money to farm animals and also serves them

Lest we be confused that their giant V logo stands for anything other than Veld.

Trading beef for beans is not a solution, veganism is

Please do substitute beef for beans, but also have tofu instead of turkey, carrots instead of chicken, and I think you see where I’m going.

Guys, extortion isn’t an effective form of vegan advocacy

Assuming we can extort people into respecting the lives of others makes no sense.
