Anne Hathaway has been pegged to play Catwoman in Christopher Nolan‘s next Batman installment.

We think it’s the purrfect role for our vegetarian sex kitten, won’t you agree?

Rumors initially swirled that Keira Knightley, Jessica Biel, and Naomi Watts were being considered for the role. But the decision of Hathaway was just announced by Warner Bros. Pictures, and the actress will play opposite Christian Bale, who will return as Bruce Wayne.

The 28-year-old caught our attention with her humanitarian work in Honduras and active charity fundraising, but of course we were extremely happy to hear she gave up meat and became a vegetarian, all thanks to reading Jonathan Safran Foer’s book, Eating Animals.

Writer/director Nolan said in a press release that he is “thrilled to have the opportunity to work with Anne Hathaway, who will be a fantastic addition to our ensemble as we complete our story.”

The film is slated to arrive in theaters on July 20, 2012, and we can’t wait to see Hathaway in a cat suit! Meow!
