When you hear “baby yoga” images of a mother gently massaging her child on a doughy mat may come to mind. But let me tell you something, you’d be wrong, like, terribly wrong.

The latest craze in Russia is baby yoga, and it’s a practice where you flip and swing your babies around by their limbs with the ultimate goal of creating more physically courageous and adept children… Okay.

Recently, a baby yoga video by guru Lena Fokina (pictured) went viral, and it shows her practicing the baby yoga method. It is a real thing and is extremely terrifying to watch.

In an exclusive interview, Fokina was asked what her reaction was to the negative attention this video has garnered, to which she responded, “Did they notice that the babies aren’t crying—they’re even laughing—and that this system has been used for over thirty years in Russia and the children are all alive and healthy? If you need more proof, the best thing is to come see us.”

Okay, true, the babies aren’t crying, but maybe they’re just so terrified that they’ve been shocked into silence! That’s just me playing devil’s advocate, Fokina.

Compared to the modern world, it was much harder to be vegan in Ma‘arrī’s time and place due to the religious and social pressures.
