PETA Calls Donna Karan A “Bunny Butcher,” Plans For Protest

Donna Karan is an American fashion designer famous for her DKNY line, being an avid yoga enthusiast, and according to PETA a “bunny butcher.”

The 62-year-old has been one of PETA’s favorite targets thanks to her inclusion of fur in many of her collections. And on Feb. 12th, during NYC’s Fashion Week, the animal rights group is planning to protest at Karan’s offices.

Just how are they going to make their point? Glad you asked, because this one’s a doozie! PETA is planning on having protesters carry signs that read “New Age hypocrite” and “bunny butcher” while blasting the sounds of screaming rabbits alongside graphic footage of rabbits being slaughtered on a farm in China… That’s definitely an effective way to grab some attention!

“PETA is calling on Karan to join the many top fashion designers— including Calvin Klein, Stella McCartney, Ralph Lauren, and Tommy Hilfiger— who are 100 percent fur-free,” a press release stated.

PETA president Ingrid Newkirk commented, “If Donna Karan stopped making clothes out of tortured bunnies, we’d be out of her life faster than you can say ‘yoga mat.’”

We really hope Karan gets the message and puts an end to using fur for good!

      herwin, I’m with you but I have to say that I find a lot of fellow vegans and supporters of animal rights who practice yoga and talk the talk but are pretty awful people. Being kind to animals is just one part of the equation. To be honest, the animal rights hypocrites annoy me even more, mostly because they seem to be more vocal and seem to think that saving animals saves them from having to be good to other people.

      That’s not to say that there aren’t a lot of kind animal rights activists because I know many. I just find that a disproportionate number of animal rights activists as opposed to human rights activists are just angry people. Although Sean Penn is a wonderful example of an angry human rights activist. I don’t discount what he’s done on behalf of those in Haiti but I’d be more impressed with him if he were a less violent person and a good husband and father.

      As for yoga, isn’t it one of those things you’re supposed to do but not talk about all the time? I’m guessing DK is the type who talks about as a way to show how enlightened she is.

    This has been going on for years…apparently Donna Karan has no plans to remove the violent deadness from her line.

    The best protest of all: don’t buy her clothes: BOYCOTT DK!

    Some friends of ours had a DK burnout, they burned anything in their closets that had the DK label on it.

    nowadays there is no excuse for producing or wearing fur! knowing the horrific suffering these animals are going through – this practice is criminal!

    Never heard of her before but now that I know she stands up to PETA I will definitely seek out her stuff and buy some of it. Thanks for making me aware PETA!
