On the last Friday of every month, with the help of Best Friends Animal Society, Denise Richards and Access Hollywood will be airing a segment highlighting shelter animals who need a home.

Richards talked about the importance of adoption while holding Rascal, the first pup to be getting his television debut.

The star said, “I think it’s important for people to know there’s so many beautiful dogs. You can get full bred, you can get puppies, you can get mix, anything from shelters and I think it’s important to really push adoption instead of buying from a pet store or breeder.”

When asked how many dogs Denise has at home, she said it varies. Turns out the actress and reality star also fosters dogs while they search for a home!

If anyone is interested, Rascal is a year old Chihuahua mix, great with kids and other dogs. You can find out more info on Best Friends Animal Society’s website.

If you’re mourning Sudan the rhino, go vegan

The world needs more vegans because more than dollars or pledges or sad-emoji riddled posts, our individual efforts can stop the demand for horns, for zoos, for animal flesh, and for the exploitation of any living being.

Criticize veganism, but don’t discredit it

Oppressive and harmful behaviour has no place in a movement rooted in anti-oppression.

Filing a case in the courts is a time-consuming and expensive affair and, sadly, doomed to fail because, by and large, the laws of the land reflect the views of the people.
