Ellen DeGeneres And Portia De Rossi Want To Party With Pigs
The couple will be attending a Mardi Gras style event held by an organization called The Gentle Barn in Santa Clarita, California, which aims to rescue and rehabilitate farm animals in need. DeGeneres first discovered the charity in 2009, when she took a field trip with Portia and videotaped the experience for her fans.
“Portia and I recently learned about an incredible organization called The Gentle Barn,” Ellen wrote on her website. “It’s located in Santa Clarita, California and it’s home to 120 farm animals that have been rescued from abusive situations. At The Gentle Barn, these animals are loved, cared for and rehabilitated. The Gentle Barn also brings in at-risk and special needs kids to learn about the animals, about trust, and most importantly, about compassion.”
The “Party With The Pigs” event will take place on March 6th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and asks for a $5 donation to mix and mingle with the animals. According to Look to the Stars, Ellen and Portia will be in attendance.
The Gentle Barn website states, “We are home to horses, donkeys, cows, pigs, sheep, goats, turkeys, chickens, llamas, dogs, and cats. We believe that everyone deserves a chance at life, regardless if they are blind, crippled, deformed, sick, wounded, or just old. At The Gentle Barn, the animals leave when they are done, not when someone is done with them!”
Sounds like a pretty great motto to us and a totally worthy cause! We’re glad to see Ellen and Portia promoting this organization so much.
