Awards season in Hollywood may be over, but for the green community things are just getting started! The Genesis Awards are this Saturday, March 19th, and will honor outstanding work on animal rights issues (we’ll be covering the event live for you!). And we just got extra excited because the vegan menu for the event, created by celebrity chef Tal Ronnen, has been announced!

Ronnen has called the Genesis Awards “The Oscars for Animals,” and perhaps that’s why he takes the menu for this event so seriously. Indeed the event attendees are heavy hitters, with guests like Betty White, Emily Deschanel, Leona Lewis, Olivia Munn, Alyssa Milano, and Sex and the City alum Kristin Davis receiving the Wyler Award

“We are indebted to Chef Tal for bringing his renowned culinary talents to our 800-plus audience at the 25th Anniversary Genesis Awards. His delicious vegan cuisine proves that good food can be served and enjoyed without cruelty to animals,” explained executive producer of the annual animal rights banquet, Beverly Kaskey.

So, what does Ronnen plan to serve up? A three course meal that starts with a baby arugula and faro salad with anjou pear, followed by a chanterelle dusted gardein chick’n with chanterelle mushroom ravioli, and for the finishing dessert touch guests will be treated to a choice between maple vegan “cheesecake” with graham cracker crust and sugared berries or a vegan tiramisu! Drooling right now?

We’ll be covering the event and plan to report back on the vegan offerings, but for those who also want to watch the action as it unfolds, tune into Animal Planet on Saturday, April 30th when they’ll air a telecast at 7 p.m.

Verbally abusing your vegan friends isn’t edgy, it’s just being a bully

If you’re a vegan who has had to deal with this, and especially if you come from a background of being abused in other ways, you are absolutely not alone
