When it comes to beauty, Mila Kunis is the obvious choice for a spokesperson. Those who hadn’t already witnessed her natural beauty and acting talent in films like “Forgetting Sarah Marshall” got a dose when she was nominated for the Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actress for “Black Swan.”
It was that performance, opposite vegan greenie Natalie Portman, that got her noticed by beauty and skin care company Clarisonic, and late last year they honored Kunis as their Empowered Woman of the Year. To mark the occasion, Clarisonic recently donated $250,000 to the “Look Good…Feel Better” campaign in Kunis’ name.
Look Good…Feel Better takes an alternative approach to cancer treatment. It’s a non-medical, brand-neutral program, and thus leaves the actual medical treatment to doctors. Instead, LGFB aims to assist women with cancer by offering beauty sessions to raise women’s self-esteem, thereby improving their outlook and helping them fight cancer with confidence and empowerment.
In a statement, Kunis noted her own family’s experience with cancer: “Almost all families are affected at some time by cancer—even mine,” said the Ukraine-born actress. “It is inspiring to know there is a free resource like Look Good…Feel Better out there to help make recovery just a little easier.”
“I am happy to help support such a worthwhile cause and am honored to be Clarisonic’s Empowered Woman,” she added.
This latest donation on Kunis’ behalf brings the amount Clarisonic has donated to LGFB up to $1.1 million. In addition to one-time gifts like these, Clarisonic also donates a portion of the proceeds every time a customer purchases one of their PINK line of sonic skincare products.
