The big week leading up to Prince William and Kate Middleton’s wedding is upon us – and while most of America will celebrate by catching up on reruns on Hulu, a large portion of the rest of the world is expected to tune in for the nuptials.

But wait! Did you know that there’s another wedding being celebrated this weekend? The nerve! And yes – it’s an American – and he’s marrying a Brit! Take that Royal family! And this one will include Donald Trump on the guest list! Eh, point to William and Kate.

Yes, the King of Vegas, Steve Wynn, is marrying girlfriend Andrea Hissom is what’s being dubbed as “America’s Royal Wedding” – but seriously, I doubt anyone Stateside would agree with that title. Didn’t the Kennedy’s already snag that crown years ago?

Anyways, the lavish affair is estimated to cost somewhere north of $1m, with Wynn flying in heads of state, members of European royal families, celebrities, and basically anyone else jaded about not getting an invite to Westminster Abbey on Friday.

From the UK Mail:

‘Everybody is getting free rooms, making the cost of the wedding over $1 million. But it’s good business.’ Guests are being flown in for a poolside ‘white’ party on Friday — the same day William and Kate wed in London. The following day, 1,000 guests will attend the ‘Grand Celebration’ in the Encore Ballroom at 7.30 pm planned by High School Musical director Kenny Ortega, according to the Post. A farewell brunch will be held the next morning.

One thing that the press have yet to touch upon is how rabid a fan of the vegan lifestyle Wynn and his wife have become. Not only did the 69-year-old billionaire make vegan options mandatory on all of the menus in his restaurants and hotels, but he’s also hosting “Viva Las Vegan“,  a vegan cooking and tasting event on May 7th from a long list of award-winning chefs.

So yes, it’s safe to assume that Wynn’s wedding will likely be a full-on vegan celebration – especially considering his penchant for getting others hooked on the lifestyle. We’ll learn more later – but I’d say its a good bet that famed vegan chef Tal Ronnen will be working his magic behind the scenes. Sorry William and Kate, but his one just sounds a bit more delicious.

Glad to hear there are some influential movers ‘n’ shakers out there promoting veganism – everyone needs to be aware of the senseless cruelty, as well as GHG emissions, involved in the meat industry. i went vegan a few years ago, and it’s bar none the best decision i’ve made.
