Academy Award winning actress Hilary Swank has teamed up with the American Cancer Society to create a new short film to inspire women to take steps to making their health a priority.
The film, titled “Choose You,” will be a documentary that follows three women trying to make personal health a priority in spite of their schedules, work, and family commitments. Sound like something you can relate to? It will mark the first anniversary of the Choose You movement, created by the American Cancer Society, to raise awareness that 1 in 3 women will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime.
One of the women followed is a business exec and mother of two boys who decides to finally undergo a cancer screening her doctor has been recommending based on family history. Another is a cancer survivor trying to be a role model for her young daughters and shape how they view their health. While the third tells the story of a recovering cancer patient and single woman searching for “Mr. Right.”
The film is directed by Tina Gazzerro of Go Go Luckey Entertainment, and Swank will be executive producing it.
“I am so proud to partner with the American Cancer Society on this film because cancer is an issue that has impacted nearly every woman in some way, yet many of us don’t realize that we each have the power to help prevent cancer,” the 36-year-old said. “My hope is that every woman who watches this film will not only begin to take steps to make her own health a priority, but will also share the message with friends and loved ones because together we can hopefully change the odds.”
The best part about this film is that it’s super accesible and FREE, being made available online on June 23, at ChooseYou.com. And you can join the Choose You movement online to receive an invitation to the online premiere here or by giving a “Like” to Choose You on Facebook.
