governator

In light of Arnold Schwarzenegger’s recent family issues, production on his “Governator” cartoon has been suspended – if not killed outright. A rep for the project told TMZ:

“In light of recent events, A Squared Entertainment, POW, Stan Lee Comics, and Archie Comics, have chosen to not go forward with the Governator project.”

The whole thing sounded like a bad idea even before Schwarzenegger’s personal life imploded. As we previewed earlier, it would have featured the 63-year-old as a crime-fighting superhero (in a similar vein to Batman) going head-to-head with an evil organisation called Gangsters Imposters Racketeers Liars and Irredeemable Ex-cons, or G.I.R.L.I.E. Men, for short. Awful, right?

As TMZ point out, the cartoon makes even less sense now as it would have featured Arnold teaming up with his wife and kids to defeat the bad guys.

i always liked Arnie even despite his aligator boots, until i read in the HufPost a couple days ago that the Governator has vetoed not only once but twice legislation that would allow same sex marriages. Not to mention his low profile but consistent anti environment policies..
So glad no cartoon of him and no royalties for him.

It’s a blessing, the cartoon was derivative, tired and pretentious. It’s good Arnold is swallowing some humble pie right now. They restarted the Conan franchise without him, he should still play Conan as the aging king. Arnold has been like a big kid his whole life, asking and getting everything he wanted, because it also served a lot of powerful people’s agenda. He became what he thought others expected of him, got caught up in his own overblown persona. He’s a smart guy, he’ll gain wisdom from this, and perhaps do something more important than some worn out on arrival Saturday morning cartoon.
