The idea of getting up close and personal with a lion in their natural habitat may seem impossible unless you’re on safari, but this video gets you closer than you could imagine!

Two photographers were in South Africa shooting photos for an upcoming book when they had a unique encounter with a female lion.

The video starts out, “While shooting photographs for our book on lions, we set up our GoPro camera on the fence line at Tswalu Kalahari Game Reserve to film three patrolling lionesses.”

When they left the camera, a lion approached and not only began to lick it, almost as if caring for it, but also put it in her mouth and took it with her.

The footage seems to reveal what it must be like for lion cubs to be cared for by their mothers, being groomed and carried around in their mouths.

Once the camera is dropped the photographers— Roger and Pat de la Harpe— returned to retrieve it.

Watch the video below for this incredible footage!

I certainly hope that Hampton Creek doesn’t label their petri-dish concoction “just meat,” because there’s nothing just about it.
