The Capital Area Humane Society has a big problem: chubby cats. Approximately 9 of them, to be exact, all of which are in desperate need of being adopted into loving homes (that will hopefully help them shed the pounds!).

To try and speed things along, the animal shelter is offering a summer special where their regular adoption price of $70 is being slashed to $15 per cat or $20 for two— that’s a deal folks!

The Ohio shelter’s mission is to “fight animal cruelty, help animals in need and advocate for their well-being,” and Mary Hinser, the rescue’s development manager, claims that the cats packed on their weight before arriving, and keeping those pounds on can be damaging to their health (sorry to all those who think fat cats are adorable).

Volunteers have been trying to keep the chunkier residents of the shelter in areas with more room to run and burn off the calories, but in spite of the efforts the weight remains, the largest cat being Zebe, who clocks in at 23-pounds.

So, are you Jillian Michaels? Do you live in Ohio? Have a big heart and want to rescue a cat in need? Visit the shelter’s website to take a look at the kitties up for adoption!
