‘Whale Wars’ Scores Record Ratings With Season Four Premiere

Animal Planet welcomed back its hit reality series “Whale Wars” last Friday – and with it, over 1.27M viewers tuning in to kick of the show’s fourth season. That’s a record turnout compared to previous seasons – and marked an increase across all demographics (including the coveted P18-34 with a 21% increase).

The network can likely thank social media for the some of the uptick. From TVbytheNumbers:

WHALE WARS topped Trendrr.TV’s daily chart for June 3 as the most buzzed-about television show in the social web for both broadcast and cable television. WHALE WARS was also among the top ten search terms on Google and top ten trending topics on Twitter on Friday.

Immediately following the adventures of Watson and Co. was the debut of the six-part documentary “Finding Bigfoot”, which scored over 1M views. Both shows contributed to Animal Planet scoring its highest weekly prime delivery in more than eight years among M25-54.

So yea – you can basically bet on a Season Five/Spin-off series.

“The pro whaling, anti-SSCS trolls are just gonna hate this.” Why would we hate this as it further supports the point that SSCS is just a TV show about nothing and that SSCS is not a conservation organization but rather an organization that seeks out issues that generate the most media and money. Watson said it himself in a CBC interview with the late Babara Frum, “my job is to make money and there is more money in seals than dolphins”

More proof that Sea Shepherd’s ongoing 30 year mission to stop whaling enjoys the support of millions of people in the USA.

Paul Watson, the head of Sea Shepherd, was involved in the first ever action against whaling in 1975 when he took on Soviet whalers in the North Pacific. Way before there was any “reality TV”.

Watson, has been going back out there, year after year, to stop shark fin poaching, illegal fishing, whaling by Russia, Iceland, Norway, and pirate whalers, the brutal Canadian seal slaughter, and Japan’s illicit whaling in the Southern Ocean Whale Sanctuary (and more).

Thanks to Sea Shepherd and Animal Planet, the “Save the Whales” movement has been rescued from obscurity and Japan’s whalers have finally been thwarted after decades of subverting the moratorium on commercial whaling.

All the SSCS does is collect money off the backs of Canadian Fishermen (see the SSCS web page, where this money goes nobody knows. Apparently there is now more money in whales than in seals. Watson is noted for selecting issues based on their media and money makeing potential.

Unfortunately, Romika is lying again. Sea Shepherd has repeatedly received high ratings from charity evaluators for putting its donations toward operational costs rather than administrative overhead.

Supporters can clearly see the results of these donations in the (albeit controversial) actions taken by the organization.

SSCS is currently confronting illegal blue fin tuna fishing (of an endangered species) in the Mediterranean. This shows where the donations are going AND that Sea Shepherd is not just using “cute” species for some kind of profit scheme (seriously, how cute is a tuna?).

Romika also continues to refer to Canadian baby seal killers as fishermen. Bashing in the skull of a helpless baby mammal, for its skin, with a haikpik is NOT fishing. A sick trade for sick people.

A Canadian whacking a baby seal in the head repeatedly with a stick doesn’t require much explanation, intelligence, or moral fiber.

The scum that romika represents annually slaughter masses of baby mammals (might as well be crushing the heads of puppies and kittens) to sell the skins for the fashion industry (that ain’t fishing).

It takes a sick individual to so callously destroy baby wild animals for fun and profit. Unfortunately, there are a lot of mentally sick people in Newfoundland.

Judging by the above post you have nothing to say. This string of rants suggests that you don’t have a leg to stand on when it comes to an argument against the annual seal harvest thus you resort to the post above. Everybody now sees who you are, a shallow PETA puppet and a SSCS marionette clinging to Paul Wastons weiner thread.

I watch the show but only to root for the Japanese in the hopes that they sink another boat and hopefully a few of those dirty hippies will go down with it.
