We’ve been keeping you posted on The Edge’s (aka David Howell Evans) plans to construct 5 mountaintop eco-mansions in Malibu, California and how he has come up against some stiff opposition.
Homeowners in the area, along with conservationists, were against the plan because of the potential damage it would do to the land and the ecological environment. And after two years of planning and lawsuits, it appears that The Edge has lost his case.
It’s being reported that officials at the California Coastal Commission have voted down his proposal, with the executive director Peter Douglas telling the Los Angeles Times, “In 38 years of this commission’s existence, this is one of the three worst projects that I’ve seen in terms of environmental devastation… You can’t be serious about being an environmentalist and pick this location.”
It’s expected that the case will be appealed, but for now that Malibu cliff line will remain in tact.
