Bullying has become a huge epidemic in schools, and rapper 50 Cent is pulling from his own experiences of victimization to publish a novel which tackles the issue.
The novel, Playground, is set to be released in January 2012 and will be the 35-year-old’s third book– his first being From Pieces to Weight, an autobiography about his past drug dealing, and The 50th Law, a volume about success. This latest installment is said to at least be somewhat autobiographical, and is told from the first person perspective.
“I had a strong desire to write Playground because I wanted to explore how a kid becomes a bully. I drew on events from my own childhood and adolescence, but was excited to see the story take on its own life,” he explained. “This book would have been very helpful for me growing up and now that I have a teenage son, it is my goal that this will have a positive influence on all teenagers.”
Seeing as bully has come into the spotlight recently with initiatives like the It Gets Better campaign, this book seems very timely and like it might reach a new audience in 50′s fans.
