Viral Video: Shark Jumps Over Surfer

We all remember the old nursery school rhyme: “Hey diddle diddle, the cat and the fiddle, the shark jumped over the surfer.” Wait…

Well, that could be the updated version of the rhyme, as the sentiment is just as ridiculous but this one is actually true! A cameraman for The Orlando Sentinel was taping video of surfers last week at New Smyrna Beach, Florida when his camera caught something very shocking: a shark jumping over and narrowly missing a surfer.

The shark was a four-foot spinner, a species common to the area, and people have captured pictures of the animals jumping out of the water before.

Nonetheless, I think it’s a safe bet to say that they’re not usually doing back flips over surfers.

Check out video of the incident below!
