Beating out others like Natalie Portman, Anne Hathaway, and Bill Clinton – Russell Brand and Kristen Wiig have been named PETA’s 2011 Sexiest Vegetarian Celebrities.

“Both of these hilarious hotties know that there’s nothing funny about the abuse endured by animals raised for food on factory farms,” the animal rights org writes. “These sexy stars prove that being vegetarian helps a person shine from the inside out.”

In response to the honor, Brand (who has been a vegetarian since 14) tweeted: “Thanks for voting me PETA’s sexiest vegetarian. Now no-one will be sure what I mean when I offer them a nut roast.”

Yesterday, PETA also revealed the winners of their “2011 Sexiest Vegetarian Next Door” contest as Kate from Lookout Mountain, Tenn. and Jason from Waconia, Minn. Both are vegans who attribute their high energy and overall health to the lifestyle. “Nothing is sexier than a compassionate individual,” said Jason.
