Teen pregnancies are a real problem, and not just because they keep that “Teen Mom” show going on MTV. Many young girls are abandoned by their families when they become pregnant, and struggle to get by as a result.
R&B singer Nivea, who is the ex-fiancé of famous rapper Lil Wayne, has decided that she wants to do something about it. “I’m starting up a charity,” says Nivea. “I would really like to talk to these young girls.”
Nivea is a mother herself, and started relatively young when she had her first child at 22 with her first husband. She had twins after that, and now also has a two-year-old son with Lil Wayne.
“I’m hearing so much about girls in these shelters and these 12 and 13 year olds having babies and they have no parents at all,” said Nivea. “They have no one there to tell them it’s not the end of the world. All we have to do is sit down and have a conversation with some of these girls and inspire them and give them something, ’cause it’s just bad.”
Lil Wayne, though he is not involved in this endeavor, has shown charitable tendencies of his own in the past. He has a youth empowerment organization called the One Family Foundation, and once donated $200,000 to help restore a park in New Orleans from his own youth.
Nivea has yet to name her charity, so details about how to help out are not yet available.
