Normally in the news, we hear stories about dogs saving their guardians from burning buildings or even calling 911 in an emergency. But so many others have a different kind of story. One where their dog or cat helped them through an emotionally difficult time. The new six-part series coming to Animal Planet this fall called ‘Saved’ will highlight those stories.

Animal Planet gives us a few examples, and they sound like real tear jerkers. “A man contemplating suicide never could have dreamed that a four-pound dachshund would save his life. And, the death of a young American soldier shattered the hopes and dreams of the family and fiance he left behind, but one stray puppy helped put the pieces of their lives back together.”

It has been proven that people who share their home with an animal have less stress, and are healthier physically and emotionally. It sounds like the people in this series were lucky to have their canine companions in their lives when they did.

Be sure to have a box of tissues and your dog or cat next to you while you watch. You’ll most likely have to wipe away tears while you cuddle your companion.
