Jared Eng, known for his entertainment news site Just Jared, is more than a celebrity blogger and has stepped up to create opportunities  for teens.

A huge supporter of DoSomething.org, Eng has contributed greatly to the organization. Earlier this year, he partnered with JewelMint, which offers the sale of Brixton Earrings and if purchased, 50 percent of the proceeds are donated to Eng’s choice charity, DoSomething.org.

Thanks to Eng’s support, teens will now receive help through the Summer Jobless Grants. The grant helps young people and their volunteer efforts by covering costs for supplies, transportation, and so on. Unfortunately, this summer’s teen unemployment rate is at a 20 percent increase from 2000. It is now at 75 percent.

“DoSomething.org has always been on my mind, and I wish I had an organization like it when I was a teenager,” Eng told DoSomething.org. “It opens up to so many doors to kids and young adults.”

DoSomething.org is one of the largest organizations in the U.S. and uses the web and pop culture to help young people in the causes they support. Its mission is to create a world where more than 51 percent of young people are involved in the community.
