Water.org is a nonprofit organization that works to provide safe drinking water to people in impoverished and developing countries. They have over 430,000 followers on Twitter, and they want to give one of them control of their account!

One winner of their contest, the “Twakeover,” will get to tweet from @water for the week of September 5.  ”One of our core pieces of DNA is empowering people to make a change,” Water.org Chief Community Officer Mike McCamon told Mashable. “The people in the developing world, we don’t just give them a well, they’re involved in it, it’s community driven.” To enter the contest, first follow @water, sign up by August 31, and write a message of 100 characters or less about why you should get to tweet for Water.org.

For those who are worried about what the winner might have to say, McCamon says they’ve already thought of that. The tweets will be sent to him for approval before being sent out into the Twitter world. He is also convinced that this will be a good opportunity for the organization as well as the contest winner. “Every organization is looking to grow…In the [contest's] top 10 there might even be people that would come work for Water.org. It allows the audience to self-select its ambassadors.”

As Mashable says, this is quite the “show of digital bravery” to entrust someone with their tweets! But, it is a chance for someone to help make a difference. If you think you’re that someone, enter to tweet for @water!
