‘Grey’s Anatomy’ actor Patrick Dempsey raised more than $1 million for charity this past weekend for a cancer center in Maine.

Dempsey hosted the charity bike race to support the Central Maine Medical Center, where his mom was treated for cancer. ‘The Dempsey Challenge’ joined 4,000 participants together to bike up to 100 miles for this great cause.

This isn’t the first time McDreamy has showed his support for cancer, as he set up the Patrick Dempsey Center for Cancer Hope & Healing in Maine at the hospital. His sister, Mary, is the executive director and told the Sun Journal, “He calls us often and he wants to know what’s happening and what we need.”

Cynthia Martell, a race participant, said, “I was diagnosed with breast cancer two years ago and I went to Central Maine Medical Center for my care, so I am grateful to Patrick Dempsey. I am here today because of him.”

This was the third annual bike race and lasted two days. Sounds like it was a huge success!

If you’re mourning Sudan the rhino, go vegan

The world needs more vegans because more than dollars or pledges or sad-emoji riddled posts, our individual efforts can stop the demand for horns, for zoos, for animal flesh, and for the exploitation of any living being.
