Saturday night, Animal Planet aired a special episode of their series Pit Bulls and Parolees and celebrities joined in to watch a support a cause.

The show features Tia Torres and her Villalobos Rescue Center, which is dedicated to giving both pit bulls and parolees a second chance. Saturday’s episode was part of Animal Planet’s You Watch. We Give. program, and for every viewer tuned in, the network donated $0.10 to Villalobos up to $50,000. According to Animal Planet, last year $50,000 was donated and “paid for half of Villalobos’ yearly vet bill for the 150 dogs Tia houses. The funds allowed her to keep dogs like Egypt, who needed hip surgery, and Sheriff, who needed intestinal surgery, healthy and ready for adoption.”

Celebrities who tweeted their support included Mandy Moore and Jenny McCarthy. Moore tweeted again after the episode, saying “loved watching #pitbullsandparolees on @animalplanet! what incredible work they do. hats off to tia and her whole team!”

If you’re mourning Sudan the rhino, go vegan

The world needs more vegans because more than dollars or pledges or sad-emoji riddled posts, our individual efforts can stop the demand for horns, for zoos, for animal flesh, and for the exploitation of any living being.

Oppressive and harmful behaviour has no place in a movement rooted in anti-oppression.
