‘Glee’ singing sensation Lea Michele is taking a stand against sex trafficking by donating a pair of her Kimchi Blue red flats out of her closet to Shoe Revolt.
Shoe Revolt is a nonprofit organization that fights commercial sex trafficking through the donation of shoes. From the everyday person to celebrities, shoes are donated and then sold through an online boutique raising money for support and survivors of this horrible crime.
Celebrities from Sarah Jessica Parker to ‘Twilight’ stars Kristen Stewart and Kellan Lutz have all contributed to Shoe Revolt. The participation of celebs has made the issue of sex trafficking more prominent, especially in California, where the problem is more pronounced.
One of Shoe Revolt’s executive directors, Vashti’s Voice, revealed what this support means, “I am excited and grateful that Shoe Revolt is raising funds for our program. I think people need to be aware that this crime is happening in every neighborhood, not just those in less affluent areas. People tend to feel disconnected and unmoved because they do not acknowledge the presence of this crime in their own domains.”
Michele’s size seven shoes will be auctioned off on Dec. 5, so if you want to bid on them and help fight sex trafficking, visit Shoe Revolt.
