Kate Middleton and husband Prince William have welcomed with open arms a new addition to their family – an adorable black cocker spaniel!

Today, the palace confirmed to “TODAY” that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge in deed adopted a new puppy. For months, rumors swirled that the happy couple had snagged a chocolate Labrador retriever, but they were recently photographed walking the beach with their much smaller new male friend.

The cute pooch came from a “family connection” and the spaniel is reportedly a Middleton family favorite. No name has been released, but he is a few months old.

The royal family is no stranger to animals, as Prince Charles and wife Camilla rescued a Jack Russell Terrier in August, who they named Beth.

For a long time William has been a lover of dogs, with his childhood black Labrador, Widgeon, passing away two years ago.

It looks like Kate and William are happy with their choice. Congrats to the couple on their furry little pup!
