On February 12, Hugh Hefner will be honored with the Humanitarian of the Year award during a post-Grammy Awards celebration held at the Playboy Mansion. PETA spokeswoman and former Playboy model, Pamela Anderson, will be presenting the award to the magazine mogul.
Hefner is being honored for his work with the children’s charity Angelwish. The non-profit was created in 1999 with the intent of giving children infected or affected by HIV/AIDS the chance to live a “normal” lifestyle. The mission has since expanded to include children living with chronic illnesses such as diabetes, kidney disease and asthma.
The “Fame at the Mansion” event is not just to honor the men’s magazine creator, but also a fundraiser for Angelwish. Shimmy Mehta, Angelwish Founder, said of the event, “Tens of thousands of children living with chronic illnesses will benefit from the funds raised on February 12th. We are especially excited that we will get to honor Mr. Hefner with our ‘Humanitarian of the Year’ award for all his charitable efforts over the years and for allowing us to include him in this celebration.”
The event will be hosted by Sean “Diddy” Combs and feature a fashion show by designer Von Vonni, a special DJ set by Australian model/DJ Sarah Robertson, and a live performance by a rock band that has yet to be announced.
Pamela Anderson will be presenting the award on the same day that 22 years prior she was named “Playmate of the Month.” This will be Hefner’s first Humanitarian of the Year Award.
