Well that was quick.

Less than four months after it was revealed that Ellen DeGeneres, her wife actress Portia de Rossi, “Pretenders” singer Chrissie Hynde, and Producer Steve Bing were all going in on a new vegan eatery in LA, sources are saying the venture is almost ready to launch.

According to Eater LA, the tapas joint Bokado in Studio City, CA is currently undergoing a “reconceptualization”. Once it comes out of its cocoon at the end of February, it’s expected to be reborn as Ellen and Co.’s new animal-free eatery.

As mentioned earlier, renowned vegan chef Tal Ronnen, who also catered Ellen and Portia’s 2008 wedding, will be organizing the menu. Waldo Fernandez will be the interior designer.

Are you excited? We are – and can’t wait to sample some dishes soon! More to come.

I’m excited for a new vegan restaurant – I hope they will include gluten free options on the menu, and not fall to the mushroom, mushroom, mushroom menu as so many of LA’s vegan restaurant’s do. Some of us have allergies! If they have a good menu we’ll make the drive from the westside regularly!

Why Vegetarianism Makes No Sense From A Moral Perspective

I don’t consider my years as a vegetarian as a stepping-stone or prerequisite to veganism

I hope I win the ‘Pig Farmers of Tomorrow’ contest I entered (I’m vegan)

I think I’ll likely have the most interest in pigs of anyone applying, anyway.

Hopefully Jon & Tracey Stewart use their new farm for vegan education

They’ve promised classes on caring for animals and sustainable agriculture, so vegan 101 would be a great place to start.
