Ricky Gervais went on “The John Stewart Show” on Valentines Day to plug his new show “Life’s Too Short” that is debuting on HBO this Sunday. But, within the first few minutes of the interview, the two comedians gave up all pretenses of talking about the new show, and instead talked about panda sex, panda porn and inter-species love between pandas and racoons.

It started out innocently enough with a joke about pandas cuddling, and arguably about conservation issues, but Gervais quickly went into a comedic bit about the species and their reproductive shortcomings.

He said, “Pandas are one of the most endangered species on the planet. We’re all rushing around going let’s save the panda, let’s save the panda, but they’re not meeting us halfway. They’re not having sex…When did they stop having sex? What are they middle class bohemians saying we’re not going to have children?”

Stewart calmly listens for a while as Gervais explains how in order to help the pandas get in the mood, conservationists in China are feeding the males viagra. He doesn’t seem to be joking either. He then says that the animals are shown porn. Stewart asks if it’s human porn or panda porn. At this point, the entire interview jumps off the rails. You’ve got to see it to get the full flavor of ridiculousness.
