With the death of Whitney Houston last week, many have been left with questions. The Guinness Book of World Records cited her as being the most-awarded female act of all time with two Emmy awards, six Grammy awards, 30 Billboard Music Awards, and 22 American Music Awards. Houston has sold over 170 million albums, singles, and videos worldwide making her one of the world’s best-selling artists.

Born in Newark, NJ, Houston’s family moved to East Orange, NJ when she was four. In lieu of flowers, mourners are asked to make donations to the public school Houston attended in East Orange, now called the Whitney E. Houston Academy of Creative & Performing Arts.

The address:

Whitney E. Houston Academy of Creative & Performing Arts
215 Dodd Street
East Orange, NJ 07017

If you’d like to honor Ms. Houston, this is the place to send your hard earned dough.
