Even though he wasn’t nominated for an Oscar or wasn’t a presenter at the 84th Academy Awards, Ian Somerhalder definitely had a memorable evening last night while attending Elton John’s Oscar party.

The 33-year-old actor attended the famous party on behalf of GoGreen Mobile Power, an eco-friendly generator company, and he wasn’t shy about expressing his excitement.

“Really excited to see our GO GREEN MOBILE POWER generator at the Elton John Oscar viewing party- See you in a bit my little baby gennie;),” Somerhalder tweeted.

John’s party jumped on the eco-friendly bandwagon and provided energy through the use of a sustainable generator thanks to GoGreen. Avoiding the usual off-grid dirty energy used on film and television sets and at events, this particular generator provides clean energy.

As most know, Somerhalder is an avid supporter of the environment, especially through his own foundation, the Ian Somerhalder Foundation. He also backs up other organizations like GoGreen, which he first joined forces with in 2010.

In a 2010 interview with Zap2it, he discussed his involvement with the portable, mobile green energy company. Back then, they were just producing their very first prototype and now it’s come to life!

“It takes a lot of power to run a movie set. We go through a lot of fuel. It’s harmful, and we can start changing that a little bit. We can get rid of these noisy, stinky, disgusting gas generators. There’s going to be a lot of thought that goes into this revolution that’s going to happen,” he said.

It’s great to see someone get so excited about helping the environment, and as you can see from the picture above, Somerhalder even posed with the eco-generator.

The actor has also been doing what he can to green the set of his popular show “The Vampire Diaries,” where he plays the sexy, bad boy vampire Damon. Speaking of vampires, he and girlfriend Nina Dobrev, who is also his costar and was his date last night, used their roles as vampires to raise money for the Elton John Aids Foundation.

They managed to auction off a vampire bite, and someone really wanted that bite, because it went for $80,000. Dobrev and Somerhalder were extremely excited and took to Twitter expressing their gratitude.

“At Elton John Oscar viewing dinner- we just auctioned a vampire bite and got 80,000 dollars for the foundation!!! WOoohooo success!,” Dobrev tweeted.

Somerhalder also showed his excitement, “Just auctioned a Vampire bite for $80,000. Me and Nina… Wow.”

I mean who wouldn’t want a bite from two of the hottest television stars? Overall, I guess you could say the two had a successful night!
