Meryl Streep’s Best Actress win last night at the 84th Academy Awards was not only her third win in 17 (!) nominations, but also a gigantic boon for Livia Firth’s Green Carpet Challenge.

The 62-year-old was announced as a surprise participant just as the red carpet was kicking off  – with Streep donning a custom made eco gown from Lanvin. According to Firth, the gold gown was created using “Eco Certified Fabric sourced with help from the GCC.”

So when Streep won – ethical, sustainable fashion scored the spotlight too. An awesome win for both!

Check out her wonderful acceptance speech below.

If you’re mourning Sudan the rhino, go vegan

The world needs more vegans because more than dollars or pledges or sad-emoji riddled posts, our individual efforts can stop the demand for horns, for zoos, for animal flesh, and for the exploitation of any living being.

Criticize veganism, but don’t discredit it

Oppressive and harmful behaviour has no place in a movement rooted in anti-oppression.
