Vegan Congressman Dennis Kucinich Loses Ohio Primary

Two-time former Democratic presidential candidate and eight-term congressman Dennis Kucinich lost the Ohio primary election to fellow Democratic Representative Marcy Kaptur.

The 2010 U.S. Census reflected population losses in Ohio, resulting in the loss of two congressional districts and the redrawing of the district’s remaining borders. The new redistricting forced Kaptur and Kucinich into the same district, thereby pitting them against each other in Super Tuesday’s primary for a seat in the House.

The always-colorful Kucinich is known for his personality as well as his vocal support of animal rights. A visit to Democrat-leaning Washington state and an open congressional seat there have prompted speculation that Kucinich may move and run for Congress there. This would not only be good news for Democrats in the Pacific Northwest, but for Kucinich as well, as the area is known for being vegan-friendly.

So sad! Marcy Kaptur doesn’t even have great animal voting records, according to the Humane Scorecard.
