Watch The Moon Get Pounded By Asteroids in This New NASA Video

After watching NASA’s new slick video on the evolution of our moon, I’m feeling a bit more sympathetic towards our companion in the sky.

Guy has had to endure a lot in his 4.5 billion years of existence.

As you’ll see in the three-minute video, the moon gets nailed by countless asteroids – some much larger and nastier than others. And while the single strikes (complete with nicely rendered SFX) dazzle, it’s the machine gun-like bombardment of smaller asteroids that makes me think the moon may be in need of some kind of interstellar therapy.

The takeaway? Space, sped up over 4.5 billion years, is a bitch to sit around in. Who knows what another billion will mean for the man in the moon – or even worse – our own home.
