While promoting her new movie about a couple who rescues a stray dog, Diane Keaton tried to find a home for a real life shelter dog. During Thursday’s appearance on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, the Academy Award winning actor interrupted Leno to dart backstage and grab Clover, a homeless shelter dog.

Keaton, a board member of a California animal shelter, asked if any member of Leno’s studio audience wanted to take the dog home, saying “I knew I was gonna go on Jay’s show and I saw this dog… I thought maybe somebody in the audience might wanna rescue Clover. Clover needs a home… Are there any bidders?”

Here’s hoping life will imitate art for Clover!
