“Grey’s Anatomy” star Patrick Dempsey is reportedly, and sadly, surrendering his dogs for adoption. He recently took in two American Bulldog-Staffordshire Terrier mixes from a Texas animal rescue, but the two females have begun fighting, so he listed both on the Ace of Hearts adoption website.

According to TMZ, he has purportedly since found a home for one dog, named Ginger. He hopes to keep Daisy, the other dog.

We certainly applaud Dempsey for seeking out animals at the shelter. We hope he did everything he could (like getting the help of a professional behaviorist for his dogs’ issues) to remedy the issue. Here’s hoping they get the loving forever homes they deserve.

*Update from editor: According to TMZ, the dogs were at each other’s throats and Dempsey feared they might kill each other. He put them both up for adoption to maximize the possibility for one to be taken. He will keep the other.
