Bill Clinton talks about his vegan diet with Harvey Weinstein on 'Piers Morgan Tonight'

Last year, Bill Clinton made the decision to switch to a vegan diet for his health. The former president had already suffered a heart attack and underwent quadruple bypass surgery along with other procedures.

Clinton recently talked about his plant-blased diet again with producer Harvey Weinstein on ‘Piers Morgan Tonight.’ According to Vegetarian Star, for Clinton, it was his concern that he would suffer from further cardiac issues or might not live to meet his grandkids that prompted his diet change.

Weinstein asked, “You ate cheeseburgers with me in Aspen. Now you’re a vegan. How did you get there? How do I get there?” Clinton replied, “When I had my second heart incident and I had to have these stents put in, I had passed all my physicals, I was doing great, I was still building up plaque in my arteries. So I decided that I wanted to see if I could live to be a grandfather. So I just went all the way.”

Clinton adds that ditching animal products was not hard for him. “Getting rid of the dairy was great, getting rid of the meat was — I just don’t miss it. Not everybody is as vulnerable to [heart disease] as I am.”

He also expressed concern over the increasing obesity rates and other health problems in the U.S., and that we have to try to change those statistics. “The main thing is, we can’t let these kids grow up to have a shorter life expectancy that their parents, and that’s what’s happening,” said Clinton.

Wish it was actually vegan…salmon is not even vegetarian unfortunately. Still, good press!

There is no reason and no need to eat Salmon. Include nuts and seeds in your diet like pumpkin seeds, walnuts and almonds for omega-3 fats that are usually found in fish. Sunflower seeds and flax seeds are also a great source of omega-3 fats.
