Shock jock and animal lover Howard Stern took Entourage star Adrian Grenier to task on Tuesday’s morning’s broadcast of The Howard Stern Show after Grenier withdrew from hosting the 2012 Bideawee Gala just one day before the event.

Regarding Grenier’s actions, Stern said “A lot of celebrities agree to do something for a charity…And at the last minute they cancel, leaving the charity stranded. I do lose respect for people when they do this. They always have a great excuse…I don’t know. Send out a tweet and say ‘I’m so sorry’.”

An annual fundraising event for one of New York City’s longest-running animal charities, The Bideawee Gala sold tickets ranging from $50-$1000 for the Grenier-hosted event. In light of Grenier’s absence, Stern’s wife and fellow animal advocate, Beth Ostrosky, announced on Sunday on Twitter that she would assume hosting duties. Although his wife was upset and worried about taking Grenier’s place, Stern said the event was ultimately successful.

We hope Grenier at least made a generous donation to make up for the last minute cancellation.

Stern might be an animal advocate but he was still rude, demeaning and nasty to women on his show. Maybe his wife is changing his perspective, I hope so!

If the Syrian author of that poem could go vegan, anyone in our era can buck far milder social pressures and go vegan.
