Alec Baldwin has applied for a permit to construct a wind turbine for his 8-acre property in East Hampton, NY. If approved, the turbine will be the first residential one in the town, which currently has several commercial ones.

However, according to town code, once the permit is obtained the town board then needs to evaluate the plan and the proposed system and then hold a public hearing as well, so Baldwin’s request for his Amagansett residence is still very much up for review.

The turbine the “30-Rock” actor is looking to construct is one that stands 131 feet tall and is a 10-kW unit, which would potentially power 110 percent of his energy needs. This means that Baldwin could potentially sell the surplus back to the local power grid.
