Imagine floating in the middle of the ocean, with the sea life swimming along beside you and nothing but open sky…and solar panels overhead. The new Solar Floating Resort is a futuristic and luxurious concept design by Italian industrial designer Michele Puzzolante.

The sun-powered floating resort is a hybrid model, giving guests the comforts of a yacht with the visual and exploratory benefits of a submarine. The condo-like layout includes a central tower, a deck and “habitation” section with 20 modules that can accommodate up to six people.

Spanning 20m long, the space will also include a kitchen, lounge, and features underwater observation capsules that provide a thick glass enclosure and can travel around the ocean so guests can see fish and dolphins.

It is a self-sufficient energy generator and includes photovoltaic panels that cover the sleek boat like a skin and are reinforced with fibre-glass. It uses a dye that absorbs light and turns it into electricity for those on board.

Although no number has been announced, the estimated price of this luxury floating resort is a cool $150 million. No big deal.
